ABOUT DAVID OSMOND
Thank you to all the supporters out there! For those of you who don't know me, my name is David Osmond and I have music running through my veins, literally. I'm the 4th son of Alan Osmond, oldest of the performing Osmond Brothers, and began performing as the lead singer with my own brothers when I was only four years old.
We were known in the early years as The Osmond Boys and were discovered by the late Bob Hope, appearing on his 1986 Christmas show for our national television debut. By the 1980s, we evolved into The Osmonds 2nd Generation, signed with both Curb Records in the U.S. and Epic/Sony in Europe, had four songs in the Top 40 in the U.K., and played to sold-out stadiums and arenas in the U.S., Europe and Asia. We worked with artists such as NKOTB, Kenny Loggins, Beach Boys, and Kylie Minogue just to name a few.
In our roles as Youth Chairmen for the Children's Miracle Network, I had the privilege of visiting hospitals across the country, while continuing to record, perform on tour, and make appearances on MTV, Good Morning America, Live with Regis and Kathy Lee, CBS This Morning, CNN and Entertainment Tonight, as well as other major shows and networks. Eventually as a group we settled in Branson, Missouri, as featured performers at the Osmond Family Theater.
I became my Uncle Donny's understudy in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, actually taking over the lead role when Donny fell ill. I then continued as Joseph in a national touring company of the musical.
As a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I left the limelight of performing for two years to serve a mission in Madrid, Spain. After my mission, I returned to college, attending Utah Valley University (UVU), Brigham Young University (BYU) and New York University (NYU). Around that time I was introduced to Brian McKnight, with whom I wrote and recorded several songs. I continued my music career working as a studio musician and appearing as a guest artist on many album projects.
I was forced to put music on hold for several years however, due to a physical battle with Multiple Sclerosis. I've passionately dedicated myself to raising awareness and resources for non-profit charities over the last several years, including the National MS Society and The Race To Erase MS. In April 2007, I married the love of my life, Valerie. We have a gorgeous daughter, Saffron, born in April 2009.
Recent improvements in my health have allowed me to place my focus back on music. I was featured on the FOX hit TV show American Idol this past year, I reprised the role of Joseph at the CLO theater in Pittsburgh, and also had the chance to perform alongside artists such as Take 6, David Archuleta, The Jonas Bros, Michelle Branch, and The Eagles in 2009.
I've now just finished writing and recording my debut solo album soon to be released. I've had some incredible highlights in my career as a performer, from singing onstage at Wembley Arena to performing at Harpo Studios for Oprah. But all of it has been leading up to this album project which I am most excited about, a solo album with my own music and my own words. I can't wait to share it with you!
Thanks to all of you for your unbelievable support throughout the years.
God bless!!!
